This TV season for many networks is a rebuilding year . Mostly due obviously to the Writer's Strike. Most Freshman shows from Last Year , their seasons were cut short too due the strike and some stayed and some didn't . For the CW and ABC , they suffered the most out of all the big networks . Here are some of the shows to watch for next season:
FOX
Fringe - Mondays - Starting Sept 9 - 2 Hour Series Premiere - This show is Exec. Produced by JJ Abrahms the Genius behind one of my favorites , Lost . It stars Joshua Jackson , best known as " Pacey" from the hit 90's teen drama Dawson's Creek . So far from what I've heard this is Fox's new big show . They recently put out a teaser trailer for the Pilot online on their official website , (fox.com/fringe) . I have to say I was very impressed . It seems to me that everyone at FOX is hoping that this will be the new X- Files for the 00's . It defnitely has the feel , yet I think Fox doesn't need another X- Files for this generation . Yet , be as it may , this show alone will do well for the network. People who watch Lost , myself included , will tune it to the Pilot , to see what the fuss is all about . To me , seeing Joshua Jackson again on screen , who is a highly underrated actor in Hollywood , in something other than Creek , is a reason alone to tune in .
Dollhouse - Midseason - TBA - Rumored January - It seems like this show is a companion to Fringe . I think the only reason Fox picked up this show was to see how it would work having two new Sci- Fi Dramas on the same schedule. It looks promising . Yet out of the two , Fringe is getting more hype and will probabaly due better . Joss Whedon , the creator of Buffy , created this one . Yet , he hasn't done a show in years , and honestly I never watched Buffy , so I can't say how good it will be , but it has promise .
CW
90210- Mondays - Starting Sept 1- This show is defnitely one of the shows I'm looking forward to seeing . I am a fan of the origonal and this is something that I've heard Aaron Spelling wanted to do before he died . Well , it happened just a little later than we thought . The cast is defnitelypheonimial . Lori Laughlin is the main star , the mother character , playing the new Mrs. Walsh , for the new modernized "reboot" . The father , a Melrose Alum , Rob Estes , as the father . He's a good choice , but couldn't they've searched a little farther ? I know it makes sense . Both Melrose and the origonal 90210 are both produced by CBS/Paramount . But, moving on . One of the best casting choices , if not the best out of the new characters , is Shaenae Grimes from Degrassi . She is wholesome looking and naturally good looking with or without the makeup .
She's playing the Brenda Walsh character for the new version . The rest of the cast is just so so . I think the whole thing with the adopotive brother . Oh Please , give me a break . Is total garbage and waste of time . I do like however that they are bringing back alot of the recurring cast members from their mother series , Beverly Hills 90210. Jennie Garth , Tori Spelling , Joe E . Tata! ( NAT!) , and even Shannen Doherty . There will defnitely be drama with her on set again! Also , Jason Priestly has said he wants to direct . Which is great thing for this show . He has really grown as a director and I think it makes more sense . He belongs behind the camera for this project . Lastly , The Peach Pit will stay , yet it is a coffee shop , instead of a diner , which makes sense , to keep up with the times . And the Peach Pit After Dark , which they never called it that too often anyway , will be called The After Dark . Hmm .. didn't they nickname that already in the orig . Beverly Hills ?
Either way this show is a must for CW at this point , the network is counting on it . They've got nothing too much left after the horrible year they had last season . Although they have Gossip Girl , and One Tree Hill , this could be the show they need. This show will either bomb , which i hope it won't ! , or do great . For CW's sake , they need it to do great . Because , if it doesn't this could be CW's final year as a network .
